The Single Day-Ahead Coupling (SDAC) Steering Committee has released a communications note on the plans for the European Union’s dedicated electricity trading platform at the end of the Brexit transition period.

The note was endorsed by all Nominated Electricity Market Operators (NEMOs) and electricity Transmission System Operators (TSOs) participating in the pan European day-ahead market.

The communication focuses primarily on Great Britain parties exiting the SDAC. However, it also reiterates what SEMOpx has been communicating to its members – that the SEM will remain part of the SDAC, albeit operating the SEM day-ahead market in an isolated mode with no interconnection available.

While Channel Interconnectors will revert to alternative arrangements for the sale of their capacity, Moyle and East-West will continue to provide their capacity implicitly through the SEM-GB intra-day markets.

The communication specifies that the final day-ahead auction under the current arrangements will be on 30th December 2020 (for delivery day 31st December 2020). From the day-ahead auction on the 31st December 2020 (delivery day 1st January 2021) the new arrangements will take effect.

Kind regards,
